Metamorphosis – Steinberg × Daniele Daminelli

Every April, Milan becomes an international stage for design. Salone del Mobile.Milano brings together leading brands, designers and architects to explore new perspectives on materials, objects and space. 2026 marks a special moment for Steinberg: for the first time, the company will present itself on the world’s most important design platform.

Together with Daniele Daminelli, Steinberg realizes a collaboration that understands design as transformation—materialized in the jointly developed faucet series 355. Metamorphosis forms the conceptual core of the presentation—not as an aesthetic gesture, but as a design process. Daminelli, listed in the AD100 and known for his curatorial approach, works with fragments of history, cultural references and deliberately staged contrasts. The past is not quoted, but translated into a contemporary form. Context becomes a design tool.

At the center of the installation is water as a defining element within the architectural context. Technical components move beyond their functional role and develop a sculptural presence. Proportions are carefully rethought, materials deliberately staged, transitions consciously shaped. Water is not treated as an effect, but as an integral part of the spatial composition.

Contrasts remain visible and become a design device: clear geometry meets raw materials, architectural order meets curated disruption. The faucet is not used decoratively, but positioned with intent—as an object carrying cultural meaning.

The result is a presentation that goes beyond the product itself. Metamorphosis describes a shift in perspective—from water point to spatial statement, from function to attitude. The faucet series 355 becomes a tangible expression of this approach: the result of the collaboration with Daniele Daminelli and a central element of the spatial staging.

Daniele Daminelli will be present at the Steinberg booth during Salone, offering insight into the design concept behind Metamorphosis through direct dialogue.
