When design makes history: Steinberg faucets in the new film by Joshua Oppenheimer

In Joshua Oppenheimer's new film "The End," not only the actors play a key role, but also the set design. The two-time Oscar-nominated director relied on Steinberg's expertise for the bathroom decor.

"The End" is a visually stunning musical that tells the story of the last surviving family living in a luxurious bunker two decades after a climate catastrophe. The star-studded cast includes Tilda Swinton, Michael Shannon, and George MacKay. Steinberg's 350 Series faucets fit seamlessly into this carefully composed setting, underscoring the film's atmosphere.

"We were approached because in a production like this, nothing is left to chance – not even the material and design language," explains Johannes Löhnert, Managing Director of Steinberg, who was personally on set to oversee the staging of the products. The faucets don't appear casually, but rather in key scenes in which light, space, and body are cinematically condensed. The design of the 350 Series – formally reduced, precisely crafted, subtly nostalgic – fits harmoniously into the narrative concept.

"We were invited to the premiere and impressed by Tilda Swinton's intensity—especially in the scenes where she was seen next to our faucets for minutes," Löhnert continued. "Experiencing how naturally our design fit into this visual language was a special moment. Being part of this extraordinary production—and collaborating with a house like CHANEL, which designed the costumes—was a special honor. I consider the presence of our fixtures in this film a testament to our design expertise."

With "The End," Steinberg shows that good design not only shapes spaces, but also tells stories.
